Frequently asked questions
What is Silicon MENA?
A curated professional network and directory of the people and companies building technology across the Middle East and North Africa, organized around cosigns — public endorsements from people who have worked together.
Who is it for?
Founders and investors, but also the engineers, designers, operators, researchers and community builders whose work makes companies possible. You don’t need to be famous, fundraising or job-hunting to join.
What is a cosign?
A cosign puts your name and reputation behind your belief in someone. It explains what you have seen them do — their ability, judgment, contribution or potential — and up to three things they are “known for”. Cosigns are public and attributed to you.
What makes a good cosign?
Specifics. Describe how you worked together, what they did and why it mattered. “Rebuilt our payments stack in four months” says more than “great engineer”. See the cosign guidelines.
What are private signals?
Signals such as “Would meet”, “Would work with”, “Worked together”, “Would hire”, “Would fund” and “Would take funding from” are private. Only the person you signal can see them. When interest is mutual, we notify you both. Signals don’t oblige anyone to anything.
What are lists and community rankings?
Lists are curated collections — “Engineers I’d hire again” — that show you as the curator. Community rankings are open questions, like “Who is defining the future of technology in MENA?”, where members nominate and vote. Votes from members who have been cosigned more carry slightly more weight.
Why is membership reviewed?
To keep the network high-signal. New members can browse and complete their profile immediately; cosigning, voting, posting and creating lists open once a member is approved. Members with an invite link are approved instantly.
Can someone add me before I join?
Yes. Members can add people they want to cosign. When you join, you can claim that profile and keep every cosign it has received. You can also ask us to correct or remove a profile about you.
How do I claim my profile or company page?
Open the profile and choose “Claim profile”, or on a company page use “Request access”. Our team verifies requests before granting access.
Where does company information come from?
Some company pages were created from publicly available information to help the directory start useful, and members add more every day. Details may be incomplete; company admins can update their page, and anyone can report an issue.
How does Ecosystem Watch work?
It combines updates posted by company admins with headlines from regional tech media. Media items show the headline, source and a link to the original article — we don’t republish articles.
How do I post a job?
Get admin access to your company page (or add your company), then use “Post a job” from the company page. Roles stay open until you close them.
Does publication mean Silicon MENA has verified a cosign?
No. Cosigns reflect the judgment of their authors. We review reports and remove content that breaks our guidelines, but we don’t independently verify every claim. Having few cosigns is not a negative judgment about anyone.
How do I correct or remove information?
Edit your own profile at any time, report anything inaccurate using “Report”, or contact us.
Is it free?
Yes, Silicon MENA is free for members.
